Learn to hunt clinic – Part II
Looking to do something fun with your horse where you can feel prepared and supported in an environment that combines excitement, tradition and camaraderie? With many horse activities curtailed due to the coronavirus crisis, you may want to try your hand at the sport of foxhunting.
To give you an in-depth understanding of what is involved, the Ottawa Valley Hunt (OVH) has created a Learn to hunt clinic for riders of all levels and disciplines. This clinic, now in its second year, was sold out last year. It is perfect for anyone who wants to learn first-hand what is involved in our sport and see whether it would work for you and your horse.
Click on this link for information on the Sunday, August 16 Part I – Walk with OVH hounds at the OVH farm.
Part II: Hunting without the hounds, Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 10 am, Sunset Farms, 6559 Hazeldean Road, Stittsville
Bring your horse for a group ride that will emulate the three groups (fields) that the OVH offers:
- a first field that keeps up with the hounds and jumps
- a second field offering a more modest pace and where all jumping is optional, and
- a third walk-trot field that’s perfect for getting to know the hunt.
The event will begin with a clinic directed by widely respected coach Grits McMullen to prepare participants for their choice of a cross-country ride over mixed obstacles, or a non-jumping group ride.
The clinic includes a supported hunt during the fall 2020 season
You can pick any hunt in the OVH’s 2020 fall season (from September to mid-November). We will match you with an experienced hunt buddy in your chosen field (speed group).
The cost is $150 for the clinic (two parts and a supported hunt) and is limited to 15 participants. Payment options include an e-transfer to email@example.com or a cheque made to the Ottawa Valley Hunt. There is no charge for new OVH members.
Use this form to register. The deadline for registration by August 14, 2020, or once this limit has been reached.
